about the project

An aesthetic-poetic collection that challenges perfection and arouses curiosity.

We live in a society where everyone is striving for perfection. We must perform, and our performance must preferably be flawless. We live in a culture of perfection! Karoline Elsig’s collection reveals her interpretation of the beautiful and the sublime from a fashion perspective – with the body as the focal point.

Taking an experimental design approach I examine and demonstrate the body's diversity and thus pushes the perception of “the beautiful” – as it applies to body, silhouette and proportions. Based on zero-waste principles and experiments with collages and positive/negative spaces, I explore the options presented by offcuts that are normally discarded in production.
